micro brand documentaries - think bigger about brand in 2027

In the age of AI, with uncertainty around so many aspects of what we see, research and buy online, trust becomes an ever bigger focus for brands in 2027.

video content in 2027

With written content and even static photos easier to create with AI tools, video content production continues to be a beacon for brands looking to communicate the real people, products and experiences they provide.

short form video continues to dominate

While AI engines wreak havoc with Google's search engine market dominance, the social media platforms continue on their merry way, with all key usage and revenue numbers still up and to the right for the big players. Full stats on global social media can be viewed at this Forbes article from August 2026.

Since the explosion of tiktok onto the scene, Meta shifted their approach to focus on video content. While static organic posts and static ads still have their place, video posts are the dominant content type, with Tiktok, Instagram, Facebook and Youtube heavily focused on serving up as much video as possible to users.

In this excellent slide from the We Are Social + DataReportal Digital 2026 Mid-Year Global Update Report, short form video and social media dominate global usage statistics.

long form video is an incredible way to connect with audiences

While I haven't written my thesis on brand depth quite yet, it's a concept I'm focused on.

Any opportunity for a brand to develop more than a passing transactional relationship with customers and potential customers, the value can be exponential. The more time users spend engaging with the brand in any way is a chance to develop that relationship.

This is where longer video content can deliver that connection.

Long form video content allows brands to tell complex, detailed and nuanced stories that give audiences a chance to connect on a deeper level. A short 15 second Youtube ad or a billboard will never be able to achieve this kind of connection.

Mini or Micro Brand Documentaries give us the time to amazing brand stories

After completing some larger content projects telling complex brand stories with depth and nuance, we created the term "brand documentary".

We needed a bigger name that showcased the scale and depth of the longer content pieces we were producing for Perth and Australian organisations.

Transformational workplace construction brand documentary

An expansive video project documenting the transformative process behind the design and build of our client's new Perth office.

Building Perth's largest single-floor office space was a ground-breaking project. We were brought in to showcase the incredible dedication, imagination and innovation that was poured into this transformational and innovative build.

With so many stories to tell, a longer form Brand Documentary allowed the necessary space and time for their telling.
